WHY WE LOVE THIS COFFEE //
Ntwari coffee comes from Buhumuza in northern Burundi and is produced by a women-owned wet mill. Named after the Kirundi word for courage, it honors a widow who built her own coffee business and now mentors young women in specialty coffee production.
Several years after her husband passed, this inspiring widow found her voice in this male-dominated industry. She was helped by Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian, founder of JNP as she learned with other women farmers how to cultivate specialty coffee the JNP Coffee way.
MORE ABOUT JNP //
In 2012, Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian founded JNP Coffee. Today, the company is known for its award-winning specialty coffees and the gender-sensitive development strategies it enables at origin. Jeanine serves as a role model for what a Burundian woman can achieve in her country. A licensed Q. Grader and certified Q. processor Level 1, she continues to strengthen the global specialty coffee industry. She serves as a member of the SCA Board of Directors.
