Finca La María has been producing coffee since 1945 and has remained in the hands of the same family for generations. Over the years, the farm has been carefully passed down, preserving both tradition and knowledge.
From 1993 to 2013, the farm was owned by Gustavo Taborda, father of the current producer, Adolfo Taborda. In 2013, Gustavo decided to sell the farm to his son, allowing the land to remain within the family. By this time, Adolfo had married Zoé, and the two of them have been working hard to build a beautiful farm.
At the time, Adolfo and Zoé were managing another coffee farm located about four hours away in a different mountain range of the region.
Having spent their entire life in coffee, they made the decision to sell their farm and return to the land where Adolfo had grown up. Together with his wife Zoé and their daughter Lorena, Adolfo moved back to Finca La María to begin a new chapter for the family farm.
Today, the Taborda Cortez family manages approximately 12,000 coffee trees. Thanks to their extensive experience and the favorable soil and climate conditions of the farm, they have been able to cultivate exceptional coffees that truly represent the potential of the region.
Beyond the quality of the coffee itself, the farm reflects the dedication, discipline, and pride of Zoé and Adolfo behind it. For them and their daughter, coffee is not only their livelihood but a legacy built through generations of hard work and care for the land. Their commitment to quality and responsible farming is matched by their belief that the effort behind every harvest deserves fair recognition and compensation.
