WHY WE LOVE THIS COFFEE // Nawin Yaesorkoo is one of the most innovative farmers in Thailand. He is 34 years old. This is the 5th year that Beanspire has worked with Nawin. He inherited a coffee plantation from his parents. Nawin is the 3 rd generation of the coffee family. His brother owns one of the largest cafes in Chiang Rai, while Nawin himself also owns a small café in town as well as one of the biggest mills in Mae Suai. Mae Suai itself is one of the largest coffee growing areas in Thailand with 500 households of Akha hilltribe. The varietals here are a mixture of Catuai, Typica, Chiang Mai & SJ133. SJ133 is genetically identical to Costa Rica 95, while Chiang Mai is a local hybrid that is a cross between SL28 x Caturra x Hibrido de Timor.
This coffee from Mae Suai area where Nawin’s mill is located and the processing is done, used a washed process.
In terms of green quality control, the coffee went through a destoner, huller, size grader, density table and ended with handsorting. The green passed through the density table multiple times. Beanspire shipped the coffee in a triple layered bag, which includes a cotton bag in the outer layer, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) in the middle layer and Grain Pro in the inner most layer.
